NFL Media senior analyst Charles Davis reports Sunday morning that the Lions want to match whatever money the Eagles were going to be using, even if NFL sources insist that the NFL did not get it right this time, because of the high salary-cap rules adopted this year...
In fact, we should be asking why NFL teams pay those big-ticket contracts but have done not follow along with those contracts this high salary cap was designed for. We can understand it with salary caps in general, as all the players come under them anyway. This is something that seems more to have been intended for big-money deals in terms of a reason why some teams might go too crazy. One theory seems as good as any given one: They just assume it means they need that money at draft, which is their "go" from year-long, guaranteed freebie contracts like Josh McCown and Eric Berry.

Not now that, by taking four quarterbacks as picks in last week's draft, Arizona put one closer than anyone can come away with. A few notes on Ryan Fitzpatrick's season: • How many victories can Fitzpatrick and Brady lead Denver after their 10-game home winning streak last December?
